How it all started...

As a recent graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory, Emily Thebaut wanted to create a company that would not only give herself and her fellow colleagues a liberating and creative setting to create their own performances, but also expose and enliven opera to new audiences and in new settings in San Francisco.  

Our mission

By taking opera out of the opera houses and concert halls, and putting on more daring, socially relevant and avant-garde productions, we hope to enliven opera and expose the art form to the broader community of San Francisco.

 About the singers

Opera on the Spot is comprised of young, professional Bay Area singers who collaborate with each other to create their own performances, specific to each venue.  Most singers are either recent graduates of the San Francisco Conservatory or other prestigious conservatories around the States.
