We are very excited to be performing at a new venue for us, Old Bus Tavern, located in the mission neighborhood of San Francisco.  This restaurant and brew house features American comfort food, craft beers and cocktails, as well as weekly musical performances.

Opera on the Spot will be performing opera arias and scenes as well as classical musical theater and show tunes for the second half of the performance!

The Italian Lesson by Hoiby and La Serva Padrona by Pergolesi

Opera on the Spot presents a double bill of Lee Hoiby’s The Italian Lesson followed by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s La Serva Padrona ( or The Servant turned Mistress).  Based on the famed character sketch by Ruth Draper, The Italian Lesson lyrically recounts the hectic day of a New York society matron in this one-woman opera.  The comedy continues in La Serva Padrona between an elderly bachelor and his servant. Come enjoy this rare production of two hilarious one-act Italian operas that reveal a lighter, if not more eccentric side of this beautiful art form.
